Family-owned Te & Kaffi is a well-established tea and coffee roaster in Iceland. It sells its provenance-focused products through three main channels: third party retailers like Hagkaup, its own coffee shop chain, and the B2B supply of high quality “bean to cup” self-service solutions to convenience stores, restaurants, and offices. As the needs of its customers change, and with the threat of increased competition by big global coffee chains entering the market, we’ve devised various new customer journeys and flexible environments to help the business continue to grow.
The first of these is a permanent pop up ‘Express Format’ for places like University campuses, hospitals, transport hubs, and office complexes. This compact solution is all about a simple and intuitive customer and employee journey – from product selection and pre-order apps through to communications to layout. The format is designed to be fitted anywhere indoors or outdoors, as long as cold water, drainage and electricity can be run to it. The barista-serviced counter area is a pre-fabricated, self-contained unit. Transported to its site in a shipping container, it takes less than a week to assemble. Flexible seating areas are tailored to each location and its particular clientele.
In addition to the Express Format, we’re developing new and improved ‘Plug and Play’ self-service solutions for Te & Kaffi that include hot drinks, food, seating, and branding packages. Responding to the insatiable need for quality coffee, they enhance the host environment whilst promoting Te & Kaffi’s brand provenance and expertise.
Finally, a totally new format will leverage organic wine – the company founders’ other passion. It combines the emerging affinity between coffee and alcohol, where many of the same values and attributes apply – witness Starbucks Reserve and Black Sheep Coffee & Cocktail Bars.
